Fellowship Program

Institute of Academic Excellence In Healthcare (IAEHC) the educational wing of Gunasheela Hospital, conducts various teaching programmes.

Gunasheela is associated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore to conduct two Fellowship Programmes – one in Reproductive Medicine and the other in Feto Maternal Medicine. Both of these are postgraduate courses of 18 months duration. The Reproductive Medicine Course was first started in 2005. Since then 38 fellows have gone through this course, successfully and at present there are 6 fellows in various stages of their training. This is a comprehensive scheme where gynaecologists undergo valuable training, become proficient in the science of infertility and gain the capability of handling patients independently in their private practice.

FELLOWSHIP IN REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE

(AFFILIATED TO RAJIV GANDHI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES)

18 Months

January & July

2 candidates every 6 months

  • MBBS Degree from a University recognized by the MCI, M.D. / M.S. (or its equivalent recognised degree) in Obstetrics & Gynecology from a recognized University or DGO with 1 year experience.

Fixed by the University

  • Full time course with hands on training lectures, seminars, visit to different labs to observe procedures related to Infertility.
  • Evaluation of infertile couples including history and physical examination, laboratory tests, hands on experience with procedures related to reproductive medicine.
  • Providing surgical experience related to reproductive medicine (diagnostic and therapeutic laparoscopy / hysteroscopy surgery)
    • Assessment and dealing with complex infertility problems
    • Providing technical skills in handling gametes and embryos and management of laboratory in relation to human infertility programme

The training program will include the following areas:

  • Reproductive Surgery
  • Management of Infertile Couple
  • Assisted Reproductive Techniques
  • Subspecialty Clinics

Examination at the end of the course / programme, conducted by RGUHS

FELLOWSHIP IN FETO MATERNAL MEDICINE

(AFFILIATED TO RAJIV GANDHI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES)

18 Months

January & July

2 candidates every 6 months

  • MBBS Degree from a University recognized by the MCI, M.D. / M.S. (or its equivalent recognised degree) in Obstetrics & Gynecology from a recognized University or DGO with 1 year experience.

Fixed by the University

  • Full time course with hands on training lectures, seminars, etc related to Feto Maternal Medicine.

Evaluation of patients with medical disorders in pregnancies, foetal complications, bad obstetric history, including high risk pregnancies achieved through ART, management of difficult labour, difficult caesarean section and its complications & dealing with obstetric emergencies

The training program will include the following areas:

  • Extensive hands on training in the Ultrasound department
  • Management of medical disorders in pregnancy
  • Observership in a busy tertiary referral high risk obstetrics unit and corporation hospital
  • Dealing with the problems of infertile couples.

Post Graduate Course: 

Masters Degree Course 

Institute Of Academic Excellence In Healthcare (IAEHC) conducts M.Sc Embryology course in collaboration with Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara University (JSS), Mysore. It is a 2 year course and provides a venue for both scientist and clinician to enter the growing field of reproductive biology and an opportunity for those already familiar with this area to gain greater appreciation of the biological processes of mammalian reproduction that are relevant to the manipulation of fertility and the treatment of reproductive disease.

Graduates are equipped with the formal theoretical and practical training necessary within this highly specialised discipline.  The course encourages independent thought and a research orientated approach to the practice of assisted conception.

M.Sc EMBRYOLOGY COURSE 

(AFFILIATED TO JSS UNIVERSITY, MYSORE)

2 Years

Every year August

  • B.Sc Science Graduates
  • M.Sc Graduates (Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biology & Genetics)
  • MBBS, MD & DGO Graduates.

Fixed by the University

Basic anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, human embryology and genetics at JSS Medical College for 6 months. 18 months with hands on experience at Gunasheela IVF Centre with a rotation in all departments.

Sound fundamental basics in anatomy, physiology related to reproductive medicine, hands on experience in the state-of-the-art IVF laboratory in andrology, embryology including IVF & ICSI procedures and biochemistry departments.

Examination at the end of the course, conducted by JSS University, Mysore

 

The Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction (ISAR). The ISAR “Embryology Training” offers education from infertility experts covering the basic first interventions to advanced assisted reproductive procedures and technologies.

As a part of the course, every candidate has to fulfill a mandatory 4 month training at ISAR recognised center. IAEHC is a premier partner with Gunasheela IVF Center, Bengaluru as the accredited ART center for training.

During the 4 month in-house training, candidates will complete 30 IVF procedure observer-ship and work closely with experienced pratitioners in the field. Select candidates fulfilling the course certification requirements will undergo a ‘hands-on’ training – practical exam before the final certificate of satisfactory completion of the training is awarded.

ISAR Embryology Course

End-to-end management of activities in

  • Calibrations of all incubators & Instruments Quality control maintenance.
  • Trouble Shooting.
  • Lab Maintenance.
  • Media equilibration in aseptic conditions & Dish preparation.
  • Record Keeping.
  • Semen preparation technique 3 each- swim-up and density gradient. (On discarded samples.)
  • Minimum 3 OPU procedures to be assisted and observed.
  • Minimum 3 ICSI procedures to observe and assisted
  • Loading of Embryos in ET catheters. (On discarded embryos minimum 3)-. Assist in dish preparation and other aspects of embryo transfer.
  • How to handle oocytes. (on unfertilized, discarded oocytes- minimum 3 oocytes).
  • Semen Freezing & Thawing.
  • Cryopreservation by vitrification –Embryo & oocyte freezing (15 each).
  • Semen freezing by vapour method. (3 samples)
